The name "Alpha Station Automation" is from our director's military service with the Royal Canadian Navy. When warships sail together they sail in formation to maximize their effectiveness. When a formation is ordered the Captains show their technical prowess by racing to be the first to their proper station (relative position). The first one in position sends the Alpha-Station flags meaning “I am first in station”.
